The dome has been tested through the seasons over several years, and we feel certain that the right use makes it able to withstand even the most demanding weather conditions.
About Arctic Dome
Arctic Dome AS is headquartered in Østre Gausdal, and is a subsidiary of GSI Holding AS.
The sister company, GSI Gausdal Sewing Industry AS has developed, and is producing the domes. GSI was established in 1985, and has solid competence in product development and production of seam-based quality products.
Making of Arctic Dome
After input from Skåppå Kunnskapspark in 2012, which was an advisory entity for the tourist industry in Gudbrandsdalen, the idea for the domes was born. It came from the changes in the tourism market, where the customers are looking for more experience-based offers and more active nature experiences.
Inspired by historical building methods
The dome construction has several practical and esthetical benefits, such as area usage and room sensation, and being able to withstand high winds. Our domes are easy and quick to assemble and disassemble.
Glamping is a new word in the Norwegian tourism industry, but a global trend centred on experiencing nature combined with a higher degree of comfort when it comes to accommodation, cuisine and wellbeing. At the same time, focus is shifting towards the environmental factor and a sustainable tourism industry. This is an important element, since the domes do not leave interference in nature.
Designed for Nordic conditions
Norway has harsh nature, and to arrive at the final product, we have been through three construction alternatives before arriving at an option that meets the requirements the dome will need to withstand the shifting weather and climate conditions. The dome has been tested through the seasons over several years, and we feel certain that the right use makes it able to withstand even the most demanding weather conditions. Arctic Dome is offering a complete product spectrum, with two dome sizes, toilet module lockable doors, isolated floors, multifuel heaters, solar panel packages and lighting. The domes can be connected in many variations, as needed.
